Team India skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday showered praise on seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and called his experience and accuracy priceless. India will open their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24.

India skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s experience and accuracy is going to be priceless for the team ahead of the T20 World Cup, starting from Sunday.

“His (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) economy rate continued to be top-notch in the IPL, he has always known for this, and his experience comes to the fore,” said Kohli during captain’s call organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup.

“I think his experience and accuracy have always been priceless for the team. He is back to full fitness which augers really well for our team. I am sure he will get assistance with the new ball,” he added.

India always had a strong side in T20 cricket: Virat Kohli

Talking about India’s performance in the past 2 T20 World Cups, Kohli said: “It was quite frustrating to go out the way we did in the 2016 t20 World Cup. But West Indies was the best team in the tournament, playing the best cricket as a team and I felt they thoroughly deserve to win that tournament.”

“We had a heartbreak against Sri Lanka in the 2014 t20 World Cup finals as well, that tells us as far as our T20 cricket is concerned, we have always had a strong side,” said Kohli.

India will open their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24.

India has never lost a World Cup game to Pakistan in either the one-day or T20 formats. But Pakistan is unbeaten in six T20s at the stadium dating back to 2016.
