KKR gunned down a 156-run target in just 15.1 overs, handing a mammoth 7-wicket defeat.

Mumbai Indians are known to be slow starters and they haven’t been able to resume their IPL 2021 campaign well in the UAE, losing two matches on the bounce. Rohit Sharma missed the outing against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday wherein Mi were handed a 20-run defeat.IPL 2021: Points TableThe 7-wicket loss is going to hurt Mumbai as they slipped from the 4th spot to 6th on the points table. Kolkata Knight Riders moved to the 4th spot while Rajasthan Royals also leapfrogged the defending champions, thanks to a better Net Run Rate. It’s not all over for Mumbai Indians as they have won 4 out of their first 9 matches and have 5 more to go but there are cracking appearing in what looked like a well-oiled machine.”It (the points table) is always there at the back of the mind on where you stand, we are still in the middle of the table, so we have to get back and fight and hopefully get some wins on the trot,” Rohit said after a disappointing performance on Thursday. We will address middle-order woes: RohitRohit and Quinton de Kock gave Mumbai a good start after Eoin Morgan won the toss and sent them into bat. MI were 77 for 0 at the end of 9 overs but Sunil Narine got the breakthrough, removing Rohit for 33 from 30 balls. With Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan continuing their ordinary run in the UAE, Mumbai struggled for momentum. Despite Kieron Pollard hitting a 15-ball 21, Mumbai managed just 78 runs in the last 11 overs as KKR pulled things back wonderfully well.Rohit conceded there are issues with the middle order and it needs addressing sooner than later.”We started really well but didn’t get enough towards the back end. I thought it was a good pitch, we failed to capitalize on the start we got and we didn’t bowl well at the start. I don’t want to look into it too much, things can happen and you have to move on.”After a good start we had to get small partnerships but we kept losing wickets at regular intervals, it is not easy for new batters to go in and start hitting the ball. It is something that happened in the last game as well and we will address it,” Rohit said.Mumbai Indians will be hoping for a change in fortunes when they take on Royal Challengers Banglaore in Dubai on Sunday.Click here for our site’s complete coverage of the coronavirus pandemic.
